Fun with Frosting Friday… Bananagrams Bread!

A friend of mine hosted a “games night” the other weekend, so I decided to make  Bananagrams bread.  I LOVE the game Bananagrams.  If you’ve never heard of it, but like Scrabble, this is the game for you to buy!

I looked on-line to see if anyone else had attempted this feat & sure enough someone had!  Here was my model photo:

Ingredients: 1 tub of cream cheese frosting (per loaf) and…I doubled this recipe because I made TWO versions of Bananagram Breads!

Directions:

Measure out the flour

Pre-heat the oven to 375

Add the sugar

We used a standing mixer, but a handheld mixer is fine, too!

Mix together the dry ingredients (sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder)

Mash up the bananas in a separate bowl

Mash them up, but leave some bumps

Add the vanilla to the dry mixture

Add the eggs and (softened) butter & mix gently for a minute or so- until the ingredients have fully mixed

Lastly, add in the mashed bananas to the bowl and mix until gooey

Grease your small 8×8 inch pan(s) and add a little flour (not necessary, but not bad to)

Pour the mixture out into the pan(s)

With a spoon, distribute the mixture evenly out in the pan(s)

Put the pan(s) in the oven at 375 for about an hour- keep an eye on them, though, as every oven is a little different!

While the bread is baking, color the frosting

Scoop out the frosting into a small bowl & add a little yellow dye

Once the  bread is done, set it out to cool for at least 30 minutes.

OPTION 1:

Frost the entire loaf of banana bread

Decorate the top with decorator’s tips and white & brown frosting tubes (Wilton’s):

Break apart graham crackers and write letters on the top, to look like Bananagrams letters

Draw the Bananagrams bag and decorate

Option 1 complete:

OPTION 2:

Cut out the banana bread to look like a banana

Frost the shape with the yellow frosting

With a damp cloth or paper towel, gently wipe away excess frosting from around the bottom of the bread

Decorate broken apart pieces of graham cracker and decorate with decorator’s tips and frosting to look like Bananagram letters

With the decorator’s tips and frosting tubes, decorate the top of the banana bread to look like a Bananagrams bag

My finished product!
